A RENOVATION THAT MIXES AESTHETICS WITH FUNCTIONALITY
The elegance of black, wood veining and ceramic, combined with spacious volumes and fluidity of movement.
IT WAS LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT BETWEEN A SEMI-DETACHED HOUSE IN THE NORTHERN COUNTRYSIDE OF MADRID AND A COUPLE LOOKING FOR AN ELEGANT, COMFORTABLE HOME THAT WASN’T TOO LARGE. THE ONLY OBSTACLE: THE LAYOUT OF THE KITCHEN.
From peninsula to island
With the addition of an island, this room gained a greater sense of visual space and a previously impossible ease of movement all around, especially considering that the home’s operational area is slightly recessed from the rest of the living space.
The sense of openness was further enhanced by not positioning the dining area adjacent to the island, but rather keeping it separate. The worktops were also illuminated with a warm, soft light from LED profiles and spotlights. Additionally, a structural column that created a small, often awkward gap was addressed — the space now hidden from view by two doors that open only when needed. When closed, they resemble a service wardrobe.
The homeowners' appreciation for symmetry and a modern aesthetic taste found an elegant union in the perfectly smooth doors of the D23 variant of the All-arounD system, chosen for all the cabinetry. Made from XDoor XMatt Black, an environmentally friendly material that is pleasant to the touch, and Synchroface special Split Oak, a modern, easy-to-clean material with a tactile texture — an interesting alternative to veneer.
